Matt’s Blog

To blog or not to blog

Blogging, like other forms of writing, is advocacy.  The blogger, like the journalist and even like the novelist, is saying ‘listen to me,’ ‘see things my way.’  But it is also introspective; it’s my way of figuring out what I think, and what that means.   If I really want to think something through, I write a post.  Through the years, I have written about politics, about religion, about social issues, and about sandwiches.  I don’t flatter myself that you are here because of my expertise in any of these areas, and furthermore, it’s not an exhaustive list of my topics, because tomorrow there may be something new to figure out, or just something interesting, and I’ll write about that.  Sure there are a couple of things I’m more passionate about than others, and they’re more likely to be subjects of posts, but I don’t limit myself to writing about only one topic just as I don’t limit myself to thinking about only one thing.  This probably wasn’t much help in the ‘what’s this blog about?’ department.  I’m not even sure I know.  As I pointed out, I make no claims to expertise.  Well, except about the sandwiches.

And you all think my life is easy!
